Rights & Democracy Delegation at McGill University, in colloboration with McGill Human Rights Working Group, presents: “Bring human rights home: An exhibition of Voices Against Violence”

This exhibition features children’s creative responses to the issue of violence in the home and community. The goal of the project is to bring attention to the harm caused by violence and to promote discussion about non-violent alternatives. Workshops were held at local elementary schools and drawings were selected from each participating class. The presentation aims to explore children’s perspectives and ideas, and to highlight the connection between human rights on a global level and human rights practice at home.

The exhibition is being held to commemorate Universal Children’s Day (Nov.20th), the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Nov.25th) and the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women (Dec.6th). It has been dedicated to Mila Yoynova and her daughters, Iva and Alice, to Melissa MacDonald and to Anastasia De Sousa, recent victims of violence in our community.

We would like to thank all the students at Greendale Elementary School, St-Lambert Elementary School, Roslyn Elementary School and the Kingdom of Dreams Daycare for their participation and enthusiasm.
