GYA 2011!!!!

Hi everyone,

We are calling for submissions for this year’s Global Youth Assembly taking place from July 27 – 30, 2011 in Edmonton, Canada.

Diversity. Creativity. Action!

The Ignite Change Now! Global Youth Assembly (GYA) is a vibrant social forum presented every two years by the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights and its partners. Up to 1000 youth ages 16-28 and from diverse backgrounds gather to explore different themes through inspiring keynotes, rich music, amazing art, hands-on workshops, and more! The GYA is a unique a life changing experience.

Everyone involved:

  • gains new knowledge and perspectives about human rights issues,
  • makes new contacts and friends,
  • leaves with new tools, resources, and contacts,
  • creates goals and projects,
  • finds the support needed to become active members of their communities and the world, and
  • leaves recharged and ready to ignite change now!

Participants come from Edmonton, Rwanda, Ukraine, Bolivia, Nunavut, rural Alberta, and many other places and walks of life to share in the GYA experience.

The Rights and Democracy Delegation of UBC will be leading workshop on the water crisis in India. If you are interested in participating in both the assembly and the workshop, please send us an email @ rightsdemocracyubc@gmail.com along with a brief paragraph of yourself (i.e. a biography, which will be needed for the workshop proposal). Please notify us if you’re interested by March 21st (since the proposal is due March 22nd).

Thank you,

Zheting Su
