MP John McKay and the Future of Canadian Corporate Responsibility
The Rights & Democracy Delegation at Huron University College, with Amnesty International presents the Honorable John McKay, Member of Parliament and Privy Council.
John McKay will be speaking to students about Private Members Bill C-300 and the future of Canadian corporate responsibility at The Huron Room, Dining Hall on February 3rd, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Huron University College.
Mr. McKay introduced Private Members Bill C-300 on February 9, 2009. The Bill, also referred to as An Act Respecting Corporate Accountability for Mining, Oil and Gas Corporations in Developing Countries’, seeks to promote responsible environmental practices and international human rights standards on the part of Canadian mining, oil and gas corporations in developing countries.
The purpose of this Act is to ensure that corporations engaged in mining, oil or gas activities and receiving support from the Government of Canada act in a manner consistent with international environmental best practices and with Canada’s commitments to international human rights standards.
Event starts at 2:00pm, in the Huron Room (located in the Huron Dining Hall) at Huron University College (London, ON).
