Arts pour l’Haïti


On Wednesday February 24, 2010 at 6pm in the Glendon Manor, we will be hosting an event filled with poetry, spoken word, dance and music with all proceeds going towards Doctors Without Borders for Haiti.

This event will feature fair-trade coffee and light appetizers as well as a Slide Show about the current natural disaster in Haiti and the importance of continuing Human Rights Work in Haiti amidst the crises.

All are welcome to attend. The cost is $5.

2009 John Humphrey Award Winners, La’Onf visit Glendon!


Coming soon to Glendon College: Rights & Democracy’s John Humphrey Award laureates!

The Network delegation at Glendon College will be hosting representatives of the 2009 John Humphrey Award laureate, Iraqi human rights organization La’Onf. Mr. Ibrahim Ismaeel, Chair of the Board, and Ms. Saba Jabbar, Programmes Coordinator, will be describing the history of non-violence and peace movements as well as the rights of women in Iraq. Les lauréats du prix John Humphrey de Droits et Démocratie bientôt sur le campus du Collège Glendon.

Le délégation du Collège Glendon accueilleront des représentants du réseau irakien pour la non-violence La’Onf, lauréat du prix John-Humphrey Droits et Démocratie 2009. Monsieur Ibrahim Ismaeel, président du conseil d’administration et madame Saba Jabbar, coordonnatrice des programmes, visiteront ces campus pour discuter de l’histoire des mouvements de paix et des droits des femmes en Irak. Zoya Phan, author of “Little Daughter: A Memoir of Survival in Burma and the West”


Zoya Phan, a 28 year old Karen refugee from Burma will be speaking at Rights & Democracy-supported events in Ottawa, Toronto, and London, about her life and work struggling for human rights in Burma as documented in her recently-published autobiography “‘Little Daughter: A memoir of surviving in Burma and the West”.
